Greetings my Beloved GemPowerment People and Happy New Moon!! This is a triple Sagittarius event, with the New Moon arriving at 4:32am Pacific Time on Saturday 11-22-14, followed by the Sun coming into the Sign of the Archer as well, creating the Moon and Sun in conjunction (0°) at 1° of Sagittarius. On top of that, Venus joins the Sagittarius party shortly thereafter. Sag is a mutable fire sign invoking adventure, exploration, and freedom, as well as asking the big questions as this sign is ruled by Jupiter. We have an opportunity with the New Moon to boldly question everything we believe about what, why, and how. This is a perfect time to ask ourselves, “What else is possible?” and look for new ways of thinking and doing. But this is not a heavy, overly-mental energy…there is Joy in the possibility of creating something new, unique, and that is a win-win for everybody!
We are being asked to challenge our “little grey cells,” as Agatha Christie once wrote. So let’s get the juices going with the rare and beautiful mineral Chalcanthite (CuSO4)! This Copper Sulfate produces the most gorgeous Blue color! It is also known as Blue Vitriol, Cyanosite, or Flower of Copper, to name a few. The name comes from the Greek combination of the roots for “copper” (chalkos) and “flower” (anthos). It has some particular attributes in that it is very soft at a 2.5 on the Moh’s Scale, and if you leave it sitting out any moisture with which it contacts, including in the surrounding air, will break it down or crumble, which is one of the reasons it is rare for most people to have a specimen Another reason is that, due to the concentration of copper, Chalcanthite is known to be poisonous if ingested or even over-handled due to the water solubility of the copper, which makes it easy to overdose the body with it. Merely dropping a few crystals of this mineral has killed entire ponds of algae. Luckily this doesn’t happen very often. And, because it is so rare it can be produced in a lab, so use caution with your sources when purchasing and then when handling.
Chalcanthite would like to work with us on a mental level to open us up to possibilities and joy in this process of entertaining the new. We no longer have to wait to create or manifest, as long as we are clear on what we desire. We are only limited by our imagination to create a totally new world. It is said to be a stone of insight, forward movement, and the gift of clairvoyance. Chalcanthite can stimulate the Throat Chakra to release those things that have not been said or issues stored therein. When properly inspired you may be surprised at what just pops out of your mouth or races across your mental marquis. Chalcanthite supports these energies through November 25th when Saturn conjuncts Mercury and puts a bit of a kabosh on the mental festivities.
Clearly very few of us will have a piece of Chalcanthite for this New Moon time, so this is one of those times when you can ask the Deva of Calcanthite to infuse a prepared Quartz crystal to hold the vibration of this mineral for you. Keep the stone with you during the day and on your night table while sleeping. It would be handy to keep some paper and a pen nearby you to jot down some of the good ideas you might have in the next few days!
