Blue Kyanite for International Women’s Day 3-8-13

Greetings Beloved GemPowerment Family, and a very Happy International Women’s Day! With the Sun in Pisces and Moon conjunct Pluto today we are being Guided to work with Blue Kyanite, and to honor all the Divine Feminine aspects of ourselves, each other, and the Universe.

Blue Kyanite is a crystal ally that is known to most regular followers of the GemYenta’s blog.  Chemically, it is an Aluminum Silicate (Al2SiO5 ) mineral, and a polymorph of Andalusite. What many do not know is that it formed when the temperature lowers and/or the pressure increases during its formation. The name Kyanite is derived from the Greek “kyanos”, meaning “deep blue”, even though other varieties come in white, green, black, and orange.  Another name for Kyanite is Disthene, which means “two strengths.”  The resulting stone has an interesting matrix which presents perfect cleavage and low hardness (around 4 on the Moh’s Scale) on one axis, and splintery cleavage and much higher hardness (around a 7 on the Moh’s Scale) on the opposite axis.  This may explain how it is used commercially both as a component of porcelain as well as an abrasive cleaning agent. It also lends credibility to its reputation as both a “Mother Earth” stone, and also one of intuition, seeing the unseen, and clarifying perceptions and mental focus and for self-expression.

So, how does this relate to International Women’s Day? Well, did you ever see the movie “Fifth Element?” Lilu is the Fifth Element who can save the world with her amazing powers, but she is also a woman that needs love and to be cherished in order to pull off her grand trick of averting a Galactic Evil.  It is the paradox of the Feminine to be both incredibly strong and yet vulnerable; to stand in one’s power and yet remain open, compassionate, and True. How often do we as women successfully do this every day in our lives and just take it for granted that this is how it has to be?  The Kabbalah teaches us that “God counts the tears of women” because to be a woman is to understand more fully the difficulty and possible suffering caused by this situation. And yet, we can do no less if we honor ourselves.  I find it interesting that one finds this particular shade of Kyanite Blue in classical paintings of Mother Mary in her outer vestments to denote royalty and purity. It is also close to the color of some Hindu Gods and Goddesses to denote spirituality, a capacity to fight evil, mental clarity, and other-worldliness. In Buddhism, the color blue represents truth, devotion, faith, chastity, and purity, which are often aspects associated with feminine virtues.

The Deva of Kyanite says, “Honor yourselves for what you are – beautiful women of all shapes, colors, sizes.  You are connected through me and other crystal allies to your Mother Earth and this is the source of your power. You say, “As above so below”, and so it is with what I am offering you. I can be called upon to offer expansion, a shift in perception, clearing, and opening of your potential on all levels, for I represent the infinite possibilities of the Universe in crystalline form on this planet. My energies are especially useful for women who have had to take on more masculine attributes for survival to regain balance within themselves and embrace their femininity for the beautiful and powerful gift that it is.”

With all my Love to my fellow GemPeople of any gender, for appreciation of the Divine Feminine within themselves and others!
